History
Mary Riegan was the youngest of three children in the Riegan household. Growing up in a beat up house in East Roger Mills, Oklahoma, she got her first exposure to pro-wrestling by her two older brothers. She never cared for it much, but that would of course change.
While at the University of Oklahoma, she met her future friend Yukari Oogushi, AKA Yubari. Like Yubari, it was during this time, she was re-introduced to and became enthralled with Japan and the sport of professional wrestling. Aided in no small part by her friend's own burgeoning passion in the same field, she decided to go to Japan.
Going to Japan
Mary's first Japanese experience was a homestay with the Oogushi family in June of 2003. It has often been said by her that it was this experience that solidified her desire to stay in Japan, as the local video store was packed with pro-wrestling videos. After graduating from college, she joined a government teaching program and for a year taught English to Junior High School students. During that time she sought out and found Reiko Hikawa's training center and joined. She had a few beginner's singles matches in what was then the FWA before teaming up with her old college friend Yubari.
NOJ and a Unique Opportunity
Soon after her matches in FWA, she was contacted by John "(C)" McKay, head of NOJ (New Olive Japan) Pro-Wrestling. She was told that they were running spot shows in Akihabara where performers would dress like comic and video game characters. And although NOJ (with the exception of the then developing So Ryung Park) was a primarily male organization, they needed females for many of their roles. Mary agreed to do this, and for most of 2005 she joined these shows.
Return to FWA and Agent Zero
During these spot shows, a competitive rivalry developed between NOJ's Mary and a competitor known as Agent Zero in FWA. The two traded wins, and the feud actually became the hottest at the time. This resulted in a series of matches that would lead to the number one contendership for the Joshi Sekai Championship. Mary won this series, and moved on to face the then-champion Agent Dangerous Queen. And, on May 20th 2006, she did the impossible, and the relative newbie Mary Riegan defeated Agent Dangerous Queen for the Joshi Sekai Championship.
